Purposed Life Counseling accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare insurances at this time. Self-pay options are also available to be made to Purposed Life Counseling in the form of cash, debit or credit card. Payment is due the same day that your services are provided. 

Kristy Burks, LMSW

Kristy enjoys working with clients from all walks of life. It is her belief that we can learn from each other in a vast array of circumstances. As a social worker, she has worked with clients of all ages, genders, faith backgrounds, and a variety of life circumstances.

 

Qualifications for Kristy include working with clients through struggles with anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral issues as well as peer and family relationships. During this work, her treatment focus generally stems from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Crisis Intervention, Solution Focused Therapy, and Art Therapy.

Kristy has been a social worker for almost 20 years and she has worked with clients of all ages. By developing a networking system in the mental health community in Grand Rapids, Kristy's hope is to provide you with the best experience possible when with her services. Kristy will work with you in collaboration to put in place the services needed to begin your journey in living your most purposed life.

Going through difficult times if life can feel overwhelming. Knowing that you don’t have to face these hardships alone can be the encouragement you need. Kristin feels that it is important for you to feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe when talking about your most personal stories. Kristin graduated with her bachelor's degree and her master's degree in social work at Grand Valley State University. Kristin has worked in the field of social work within the medical field, schools, nursing homes, and a substance abuse clinic. Kristin enjoys working with people of all ages and walks of life. Kristin enjoys working with people through their trauma, anxiety, depression, and life experiences. Kristin utilizes play therapy, CBT, DBT, and EMDR. Seeking help is the first step to a positive outlook on your most purposed life.

Laura Muniz, LLMSW

Laura has a passion for working and strengthening community through equity and inclusion. She has had the opportunity of helping others establish healing and recovery from trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction. She has the ability to give clients a space to feel safe and explore their experiences without feeling judged. Together, Laura and her clients will attempt to overcome conflict by helping recognize, label, and challenge perspective and self. Also recognizing strengths and developing other approaches to reduce situational stressors and identify meaning behind any internal conflict. Laura specializes in working with clients who strive for change among themselves in terms of self-growth. Some are just looking for a support system or ways to cope with transitions, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, self-harm and psychosis. Whatever the situation may be or what that might look like for you we will work through those burdens and struggles and find solutions and tools to manage these events.
